New Aarhus Kuntsmuseum, Denmark by Schmidt, Hammer, Lassen K/S - 17 awesome pics
at Artforum: it is one of the largest art museums in northern Europe and the largest to be built in Denmark in almost a century. With a central hall rising to a height of six stories, the building's design reminds many visitors of FLW's Guggenheim. The comparison is "all the same to me," director Jens Erik Sorensen told the newspaper. "We're bigger than the Guggenheim." so there. it's spectacular anyway. [ via ]

a brief piece in Metropolis quotes an MIT chief of facilities who says that MIT will sue Steven Holl for cost overruns in the vicinity of $30 to $50 million at Simmons Hall. Holl denies that the lawsuit is on the way. (How would he know? read on...) If true, someone is out of the loop, either Holl or university prez Charles Vest, who are scheduled to be on a panel together this coming Saturday... a panel about universities as patrons of cutting edge architecture (Did someone at MIT spill the beans a week too soon?) [ via ]
update: Bill Mitchell denied via email that MIT has any plans to sue Holl; blames the story on a journalist's "opportunism".
